What does a student learn in ?

Mastery Learning Standards
The required skills a student should display by the end of Grade 11.
Algebra I
  • Number Operations and Expressions

    Algebra I

The student applies properties of rational and irrational numbers and operations on polynomials to solve problems.

  • Linear Functions and Equations

    Algebra I

The student writes, solves, and graphs linear equations, inequalities, and systems to model real-world situations.

  • Quadratic and Exponential

    Algebra I

The student analyzes and writes quadratic and exponential functions and uses them to model situations.

  • Algebra I

The student summarizes, represents, and interprets data on single and two variables and uses regression to model relationships.

Algebra II
  • Polynomial and Rational

    Algebra II

The student performs operations with polynomial and rational expressions and solves polynomial and rational equations.

  • Functions and Models

    Algebra II

The student analyzes and graphs polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and uses them to model situations.

  • Statistics and Inference

    Algebra II

The student applies statistical concepts to make inferences about populations using sample data.

Geometry
  • Two-Dimensional Figures

    Geometry

The student applies properties of two-dimensional figures, including transformations, similarity, and trigonometry, to solve problems.

  • Three-Dimensional Figures

    Geometry

The student calculates surface area and volume of three-dimensional figures and uses them to solve problems.

  • Coordinate Geometry

    Geometry

The student uses coordinates to verify geometric relationships and to solve problems.

  • Probability and Reasoning

    Geometry

The student applies probability and logical reasoning to solve geometric problems.

National Monitoring

NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress)

Federally administered sample-based assessment in reading, mathematics, science, and writing. NAEP results inform state-by-state comparisons rather than individual student or school accountability.
